So I am not actually in any of the boats any of the others are describing. The only 'viras tool' I have is Windows Defender and turning that off briefly did not do anything.
I have tried disabling the adapter - Nothing
I have tried manual IP and DNS - Nothing
Have installed the new Realtek Driver for Win10 - Nothing
Restarted PC - Nothing
Uninstalled the driver completely - Nothing
IPConfig /Release and /Renew
It all comes back to 'Unidentified network'. Digging further into this I found this exact same issue occurred on Windows 8.1 for some users upgrading from Windows 8. Every post was the same. The driver and hardware are fine as the device is sending packets but it is not able to receive packets packet.
So, if any Microsoft person has any thoughts here, please chime in.
EDit:
Found another link to a couple of other articles talking about deleting the DNI-DNE entry in your netcfg via command line. Obviously this is not the answer as lots of people are still saying this is not working, not found or it does not pertain to them (DNI_DNE entries are made for VPN clients, if you do not have a VPN client, you do not have the entry).
So it seems that something else is going on here. And it needs a fix... soon.
Any plans to fix the driver issues with Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controllers?
Looks like there are lots of people having issue with the Realtek GBE drivers.
Just found the post below and it fix my issue:
Realtek Pcie Gbe Family Controller Manual
If you have unsupported VPN software installed on Windows 8.1 when you upgrade, you may encounter this problem. We are currently working on a fix.To check if this is causing your networking issue:
Right-click the Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin).
Type the following command in the window and hit Enter:
netcfg –s n
This will show a list of networking protocols, drivers and services.Check to see if DNI_DNE is listed in the output. If it is, this problem applies to you.
If DNI_DNE is present, in the same command prompt window, type the following commands to resolve the problem:
reg delete HKCRCLSID{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f
netcfg -v -u dni_dneIf you receive the error 0x80004002 after running this fix, either the register key was not deleted or the key that needs to be deleted is slightly different.Open Regedit and navigate to the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTCLSID{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3}.Delete it if it still exists. If it is not present and you still received this error, please reply to the post.We may contact you to help identify the cause of this error.
If this resolves your issue, in order to use your VPN, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the VPN software to obtain a version that is supported for use on Windows 10.
